But most companies outsource their financial advisory and portfolio management need to external agencies. There are several reasons why a financial firm would hire external financial advisors, manage its assets, and create an estate plan. The first is so that the firm can meet its legal obligations. For example, if the company wants to take a loan from a venture capital investor, the venture capital manager will make sure that all legal steps are taken before giving the loan to the investor. In this case, the financial advisors to help the company achieve its financial goals. Another reason why financial firms outsource these services is so that firms can focus on core activities. Many firms run into problems when they attempt to implement their own asset management and investment strategies. External agencies help firms focus on their core business processes. These firms also allow firms to enhance their internal processes to reach higher levels of performance. The third role is asset management. When a financial firm creates managed accounts for clients, it takes on the responsibility of managing those accounts for the client. If the firm cannot manage its own investments or accounts, it may not be able to provide the level of support to long-term investors that they need. However, when a third party handles these responsibilities for a firm, they are more likely to provide investors with the level of service and expertise they expect. Third parties also help a financial firm achieve its short-term and long-term goals. The fourth role is life insurance. When a life insurance company manages a portfolio, it takes on the responsibility of investing that portfolio in various financial products that it believes may yield a return. In doing so, the company wants to ensure that the investments are not exposed to a significant loss. When a financial firm does this work, it becomes the life insurance company. Therefore, the company may have an incentive to manage its portfolio and invest in appropriate financial products. The final role that an investment firm plays is that of advisor. An investment advisor generally provides advice to a financial advisor on how to invest his or her client's money so that it achieves the financial goals of the investor. Some of the financial advisors' jobs include creating and maintaining a portfolio that helps clients achieve their investment goals. They also may assist investors in determining what kinds of investments will be most useful to them, how to take advantage of certain tax benefits, and how to create a portfolio that will provide the greatest possible return. In general, the role of an investment firm varies according to each firm. However, digital have at least one role that is very similar. That role is to provide the advice to investors on how to invest their money so that it reaches its intended goals. From that standpoint, it is not an investment firm per se.
