Dependent Auto Insurance: What Types Are Available? We all know that getting the right kind of dependable auto insurance is vital to keeping our cars in tip top shape and safety on the road. If you want to make sure that you have the best insurance for your money, you have to be aware of the different types of policy available to you. Many people don't even know what the various types are. In fact they can get quite confusing. So we thought it might be useful to go through the three main types so you can make a more informed decision before taking out your next policy.    Third party coverage is the cheapest type of insurance you can get. It covers you if you injure another person or damage their property when you are driving your car. The amount of cover you get will depend on how much the other driver was paying before they were involved. If you've added any additional drivers then this type of cover will not be as good as it used to be and you could find yourself out of pocket very quickly.    Collision and Comprehensive are the next two types of auto insurance. These cover you for damage to your own car if you are at fault. If you have invested in an expensive sports car or something similar then you should really consider taking out collision auto insurance. If you drive an old car that's going to get clapped a lot then a comprehensive policy might suit. This gives you protection in the event you damage your own vehicle. Egg Insurance can choose to take out fully comprehensive or third party only.    Third party only is there so that you can take care of costs from third parties. However, if you damage your own car you'll only be eligible for the correct amount. Usually this is the level of third party liability you have in the UK, but there is no legal obligation to take this. You do however need to take out at least the basic level of cover and make sure you have enough excess so that you are covered for any eventuality.    You do have the option of taking out no claim bonus. This is a special type of insurance that a few providers offer to their customers. Basically what it will do is save you money when you have made claims in the past. This is based on the idea that the more claims you make, the more you will save. The good thing about this cover is that the provider is able to offset the cost against any savings you make so it is still worth taking out.    The final form of dependent auto insurance you might want to look into is third party fire and theft. This type of insurance is also popular among those who use their car as a second home. It covers you for damage that is caused to any property you may own. Again, you'll only be eligible to get this if you have the correct cover.    When choosing a provider for your insurance it's important that you take all the quotes you are given, no matter how big or small they are. Shop around on the web and don't be afraid to ask questions. The insurance company should do all they can to help you make the best decision for you but they won't always have all the information you need. A lot of the time, you'll just have to take their advice and go with it.    Once you have compared all the various quotes that you were offered, you should be able to make a final decision on who you want to go with. If you are buying insurance to cover more than one vehicle then you'll probably need to get a separate cover for each one. However, don't assume you have to get separate insurance - if anything should go wrong and you're left without any compensation, you'll be eligible for a payout from the insurance company. It's important that you take the time to find the most suitable insurance company for your needs because it could end up saving you money and making sure you have security while driving.
